The Ambassador Emmanuel Edojakwa Foundation has called on all road users, especially commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, to prioritize safety while on the road. The foundation made this appeal during a recent road safety awareness campaign aimed at reducing accidents and saving lives.
The foundation’s spokesperson emphasized the increasing number of road accidents caused by reckless riding, over-speeding, and disregard for traffic rules. He urged Okada riders to always wear helmets, obey traffic regulations, and be mindful of pedestrians and other road users.
“The safety of every road user is important. We have seen too many preventable accidents due to negligence. We urge all motorists, especially Okada riders, to ride responsibly and respect traffic laws,” the spokesperson stated.
The foundation also distributed reflective vests and helmets to Okada riders as part of its commitment to promoting road safety. The campaign received support from local transport unions and law enforcement agencies, who pledged to enforce stricter compliance with traffic regulations.
Ambassador Emmanuel Edojakwa Foundation reiterated its dedication to advocating for road safety and called on the government and other stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring safer roads for all. The foundation plans to hold similar awareness campaigns in other parts of the country in the coming months.
